Tennis lessons in Monrovia

Monrovia sits up against the foothills on the eastern stretch of the route, and it plays a little cooler and a little quieter than the valley floor below it.

Coaching that travels to Monrovia

The town has a small-city feel that carries into the lessons: mostly local families, mostly the same handful of courts, and very little of the scramble for court time that defines Central LA.

Because Monrovia is further out, the practical trick is grouping it with other east-side sessions rather than treating it as a one-off stop.

There is no fixed facility behind Poom's Tennis Academy. You name the court in or near Monrovia and the coaching shows up there, racquets swinging within the first few minutes rather than after a drive across the city.

Best times to play here

The foothill position gives Monrovia slightly cooler mornings than the flats to the south, and the courts rarely have a queue. Summer afternoons still get seriously hot, so morning remains the default from June onward.

Grouping the east side

The 210 makes Monrovia straightforward to reach, but it's the far half of the route. Days with existing Arcadia, Duarte or Glendora sessions are the easiest to slot into, so flexible days are genuinely worth more than a flexible hour here.

Courts in Monrovia

  • Recreation Park

The city's main park and the usual answer when there's no home court in play.

Foothill homes above Foothill Blvd sometimes have private courts, and a number of newer complexes include one. Either removes the scheduling question entirely.

Courts listed above are public facilities that players in the area commonly choose. Poom's Tennis Academy is not affiliated with them, and access, reservations and any outside-coaching rules are confirmed with you before a lesson is set.

Who trains in Monrovia
